Vijayawada, Nov. 12: The Krishna district administration is geared up to crack a whip on indiscriminate aqua farming. The district collector, Mr N. Sridhar, issued orders to check the illegal fish tanks which are flouting norms of Coastal Aqua Culture Authority Act 2005. Under the Act, every farmer should register his land which is under aqua cultivation and has to pay a nominal fee.

Climate change threatens Australia's A$2.1 billion (US$1.6 billion) commercial fishing and aquaculture industry, but may create new wild fisheries as tropical marine species move south as sea temperatures rise.

Ongole, July 27: Aqua culture and salt industries have turned soil saline in many parts of Prakasam district making large chunks of land unfit for cultivation. Salt cultivation is on in 7,867 acres in four mandals of the district and in the last one decade, aquaculture is also on the rise in nine mandals.
