The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) has published a report on legal instruments and practice in Southeast Asia that support a right to a healthy environment. The authors find that countries in the region that recognize this right are in a better position to tackle environmental challenges.

This publication brings out broad guidelines for coastal protection projects. Coastal protection project planning and design being an interdisciplinary task, needs inputs from coastal, geotechnical, hydrology, hydraulics, structural, meteorology, economics, environmental, geology, oceanography and other related disciplines.

The matter related to blowout at well No. 5 in OIL India's Baghjan field, Assam in June 2020. After the incident of blowout, several bunds were constructed around the area of the blowout to arrest the spilled oil flowing to the nearby water bodies. The oil arrested inside the bundhs were picked up by manual efforts in drums and transferred to EPS-Baghjan. Turbo pumps driven by water jets were also used for lifting spilled oil.

The appeal was directed against an amended Environmental Clearance (EC) dated 03.09.2019 granted to M/s. Adani Power (Jharkhand) Ltd., (Project Proponent) by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), permitting withdrawl of water from the river Ganga for the proposed thermal power project at Godda, Jharkhand to be set up by Adani.

After receiving numerous representations for extending the notice period of the draft Environment Impact Assessment notification 2020, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Thursday announced that the notice period has been extended to June 30.
