The rainwater harvesting project across nine upazilas in the district has failed to attract people to the use of rainwater instead of that from tubewells.

The authorities are planning to launch the “Rainwater Harvesting Project” to address the issue of depleting underground water table in Lahore just as India has already done successfully in New Delh

To address the issue of water crisis in the capital, Delhi government has decided to revive “non-functional” rainwater harvesting systems in schools to raise the groundwater level.

Around 800 governmentrun schools have rainwater harvesting pits and over 50% of them are non-functional, mostly due to no monitoring by the previous regime, Delhi government education coordinator, Amit Mishra said.
