MANGLORE (HARDWAR): For farmers in this agricultural heartland of Uttarakhand the election issues are simple. They want the Neelgais to be kept out of their farms, a reasonable minimum support price (MSP) for their produce and status of industry for agriculture.
New Delhi: Commuters heading for holy shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri besides Haridwar and Rishikesh can now hope for a better travelling experience from Delhi. Uttar Pradesh government has invited request for qualification (RQF) of constructing a 5.5 km long elevated expressway at Modinagar at a cost of Rs 400 crore. The road network is going to be one of the longest networks on any National Highway in the country.

Although it was said that the manch would not be affiliated to any political party, the presence of senior VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Pravin Togadia raises many questions.
In the blazing afternoon heat, a group of Van Gujjars listened solemnly as speaker after speaker spoke about the hardship people face when they are displaced from their traditional habitats to make way for special economic zones, special tourism zones, national parks, sanctuaries and dams. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday demanded a complete halt to all hydroelectric project works on river Ganga in the BJP ruled Uttarakhand, saying alternative methods should be explored to generate power.
The RSS affiliate also asked both the BJP and Congress to spell out their respective policies about the hydro-electric projects being constructed on the river.
