The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of domestic water purification units with respect to contaminating enteric viruses. Eight domestic water purification systems widely used in India were evaluated using hepatitis E virus (HEV) as a model virus.

Hyderabad: As many as 5,426 cases of acute diarrhoea, including 21 deaths, were reported in Hyderabad, Adilabad,
Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, Kadapa, East Godavari, Warangal and Medak. Hyderabad stood on top with 1,197 cases.
The total number of acute diarrhoea cases was 3,901 during the corresponding period last year, a government report pointed out.
