Petition filed in the Supreme Court of India regarding laws discriminating against persons affected by leprosy

Petition filed in the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy Vs Union of India & Others regarding laws discriminating against persons affected by leprosy. The petition was filed to highlight the violation of the fundamental rights of persons affected by leprosy under Articles 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India by the continued existence of archaic, discriminatory provisions under 119 Central and State laws.

In December 2017 Supreme Court admitted the petition and ordered notice to be issued to the Central and States Governments.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of National Campaign Committee for Central Legislation on Construction Labour Vs Union of India & Others dated 10/11/2017 regarding effective implementation of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996.
