The State Government has decided to put land acquisition for rail and national highways development on the fast track.

It will be quite some time before the proposed Hurashi and Chupervita open cast mine projects, an extension of the Rajmahal Coalfield Project, finally see the light of the day as the administration has not been able to acquire land for railway lines.

There has been little expansion of the rail network in Himachal Pradesh since Independence and almost all projects, except the Nangal-Talwara rail link, being pursued by the state government, have not gone beyond survey work.
