THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The environmentalists in the city, including Sugathakumari, G. Shankar, Sridhar P., Eldo Pachilakadan and R. Ajayan, have put forward a series of recommendations on tree-felling in the city. These recommendations were made at a discussion the greens had with PWD Minister Mons Joseph, Forest Minister Binoy Viswam and Law Minister M Vijayakumar.

Mumbai Over 3,000 trees are facing the axe across the city to make way for public and private infrastructure projects. Facing the greatest damage to its greens is the Bhandup Water Complex area that may lose more than 2,300 trees to make way for the upcoming water supply project.

The Supreme Court on Monday cleared the construction of the badminton and squash courts complex for the Commonwealth Games 2010, at the Siri Fort Sports Complex (SFSC). There was opposition from the members of the SFSC who had alleged that the DDA had violated environmental norms.
