AHMEDABAD: Housing societies who have deviated from their commitment of maintaining trees on their premises after obtaining Building Use' (BU) permission are in for a flak.

MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Wednesday pushed for implementation of the Traffic Restraint Scheme (TRS) in the city, asking the government to try it out on an experimental basis in a very congested area for a month. The court also directed the government to get back to it in two weeks and state clearly whether it was willing to try out the idea.

MUMBAI: The BMC takes great pride in its annual tree plantation drive but a reality check shows less than 10% of the saplings--planted spending lakhs of rupees--survive. The reason, said experts, is lack of expertise.

Pune As many as 685 trees will have to be felled or replanted to implement the proposed metro rail project in Pune. The detailed project report prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) says these trees come in the way of the Metro corridor and they will have to be either felled or replanted.

The Tree Court of Mysore on Monday put brakes to the proposed road widening work by Mysore City Corporation which involved cutting of a total of 209 trees at two places in the City, by rejecting the proposals submitted in this regard.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) got a breather with the High Court on Saturday refusing to stall the ongoing works from R V Road to South end circle. Hearing a petition by City based NGO Hasiru Usiru, the court has also refused a stay on the felling of trees for the implementation of project.
