The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has published a progress report on implementation of the Water Convention, showing that Parties have made “significant progress” towards cooperation on transboundary waters.

The number of critically polluted stretches of the country's rivers has increased to 351 from 302 two years ago, and the number of critically polluted stretches has gone up to 45 from 34, according to this recent assessment released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Water-related challenges are increasing in severity and global extent. They affect the developing world in particular, no more so than in South Asia which suffers from physical water scarcity, economic water scarcity and poor water quality.

The Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Poverty Diagnostic in the West Bank and Gaza is part of a global initiative to improve evidence on the linkages between WASH, poverty, and service delivery at the local level.
