The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has lauded the Punjab Horticulture Authority for taking steps to preserve old trees as part of eco-culture in Lahore.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the WWF praised efforts of PHA director-general Dr Raheel Siddidui for disallowing the cutting of an old maple tree in the Civil Secretariat, as reported in a local press.

Russia complained about a major Chinese river project on Monday which it says will harm the Russian environment, the latest sign of strained relations between the two countries.
