In all, Rs 192 crore was sanctioned after a meeting of urban administration and development minister Babulal Gaur and Union urban development minister Kamalnath in New Delhi on Thursday. Kamalnath sanctioned four schemes worth Rs 192 crore for Bhopal's development. Gaur also discussed pending JNNURM projects of Indore and Jabalpur. Kamalnath said the city development projects would also be sanctioned soon, according to the spokesperson.

Already facing flak from cross sections of the society for shoddy works and mismanagement, IndoreBRTS is in dock yet again for purchasing diesel buses thereby violating the environmental norms for

Says it is as per Master Plan 2021
The city government has opposed in the Delhi High Court a fresh PIL for scrapping 5.7-km-long bus rapid transit (BRT) corridor here, saying the project was not in violation of the city's Master Plan 2021.

NGO Nyaya Bhoomi has alleged that Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Ltd., a joint venture firm of the Delhi government, and the IDFC foundation, has created the 5.7-km-long BRT corridor from Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand flyover in gross violation of the Master Plan 2021 of Delhi.

INDORE: The Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court has given two days time to the divisional commissioner to submit his report on the BRTS corridor.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 18.

The bench comprising justice Shantanu Kemkar and Justice U C Maheshwari were hearing a petition on BRTS corridor filed by social activist Kishor Kodwani. The court also directed divisional commissioner to provide a copy of his report to Kodwani a day before submitting it to the HC.

Urban transport has increasingly played a key role in making rapidly growing cities livable and sustainable. Sensitivity to local context and scientific evaluation of available alternatives lies at the core of an efficient public transport system.

The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India (GOI) had issued policy circular Do. No.

10% Lower Requirements For Buildings Beside BRTS, Metro Routes

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) has relaxed parking requirements for commercial buildings along transit corridors of the city by 10%. Principally, these are along the BRTS and metro corridors. Auda claims that it would boost the commercial and corporate offices coming up along the corridors. Developers along the corridor also get the maximum permissible FSI — 4.

For the residents of the city battling traffic congestions every day, there could still be some hope. The State government on Thursday announced that it would take up a study on multi-modal integration of transport in Chennai this year.

Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam, in his budget speech, underscored the need for a combination of different modes of transport such as buses, suburban trains, Metro Rail and monorail, and also new innovative systems such as the Bus Rapid Transport System, which virtually remains a non-starter in the city.

INDORE: Poor planning, faulty execution, wrong design and inconvenience to people have disillusioned Indoreans from the BRTS which was quite evident at public hearing on Sunday organised by divisional commissioner on the directions of high court.

Nearly 300 people registered their objections and suggestion on BRTS and its execution. Nearly 61% of the people have expressed their views against the 11.5km BRT corridor. Only 9% of the people have supported the project and 30% are still willing to accept the BRTS with little amendments. Technical experts termed BRTS 'unsafe'. Most of the people raised objections over the safety arrangement on the corridor and believed that the way in which the project has been implemented, has made it quite risky for commuters.

With the Union urban ministry emphasizing the funding of major transportation projects in the country, Gujarat's cities have readied teams to lobby for multi-crore BRTS projects to be taken up on priority basis in the coming JNNURM committee meeting. The Union budget has made provisions for almost Rs 14,873 crore - a major portion of which will be directed at buying 10,000 buses across the country.

Gujarat cities like Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara which are either at key points in their BRTS projects, or have yet to start work, would be visiting Delhi in the coming few weeks.
