Lucknow Intended to be a growth engine for Uttar Pradesh, the R14,000-crore, six-lane, access-controlled Yamuna Expressway, originally planned to be thrown open to the public before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, is finally all dressed up and ready, but unfortunately has nowhere to go.

Almost two months after the project’s concessionaire, Jaypee Infratech, communicated to the state government that the expressway was complete, it is still awaiting the state government's nod to officially declare it open. This despite the soft-spoken Akhilesh Yadav, the state’s new chief minister, having said that he strongly believed that “if we can double the speed on the roads, it can triple the pace of our economy”.

JAIPUR: With the forest department unwilling to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for traffic via the Ghat Ki Ghuni tunnel, the JDA has got another hurdle ahead before completion of the project.

The forest department has asked the (JDA) to deposit Rs 14 lakh to get NOC for the project. The Ghat Ki Ghuni tunnel project, aimed at providing an alternative to the narrow Jaipur-Agra Road, is being constructed by drilling the Jhalana hills.

The Central Government has directed Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) to sign gas sales and purchase agreement (GSPA) with NTPC and 10 other city gas distribution (CGD) companies to supply gas from the KG-D6 fields.

Gurgaon construction company Sanjose-Supreme won the financial bid as it proposed to pay the maximum premium of Rs 23.99 crore per year. Whereas, the Mumbai-based construction, Atlanta had bid for a premium of Rs 10 crone per year.
