JAIPUR: With increase in allocation of funds for projects running under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in the Union budget, the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) has geared up to submit proposals for 500 new low-floor buses.

Already 100 new buses have been added to the JCTSL making the total strength of low-floor buses to 400. The additional 500 new buses will boost the public transportation in Jaipur.

Public transport in cities would get a boost as 10,000 new buses would hit roads during 2013-14.

Buses Of Euro IV Model To Be Provided By Pvt Contractors For 7 Years

Pune: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), the city public transport company, which is facing problems about maintenance of buses and lack of adequate depots, is planning to hire 500 Euro IV buses. The buses will be provided by private operators and PMPML will pay them charges on per kilometer basis.

The North Municipal Corporation is ready to implement its reformed parking policy and as part of that, the civic agency will begin using handheld devices in the 64 parking sites under its jurisdiction.

The corporation, however, maintained that it will take some time to get these handheld devices connected to the central server, that will enable it to keep track of every car entering the parking site and for how long it is parked. "Initially, the plan was to connect these devices to a central server so that we have parking records for a month, based on which we can float fresh tenders without losing money to contractors, but that will take time.

Bangladesh PM pins hopes on India, Indian buses for Bangladesh

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Sunday handed over the keys of 20 buses to Bangladesh. India will hand over another batch of 30 buses along with 88 air-conditioned coaches by April this year. This forms part of $1 billion line of credit to Bangladesh, the largest single line of credit extended by India to any country, the external affairs ministry said.
