A daily health advisory in Delhi to warn people about the noxious air quality may be on its way.

The advisory intends to inform the public about the levels of carbon monoxide, ozone and other hazardous particles in the air, helping warn those with vulnerable lungs and also encouraging the public to curb unnecessary emissions. There are already six monitoring stations across the city that document the levels of air pollution on the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) website in real time. However, there is no way to easily interpret the data.

Pollution standards exist only for ambient air quality and not for individual power plants, says report

Emissions from coal-fired power plants is taking a heavy toll on human life across large parts of India. In 2011-2012, a first-of-its-kind study in the country estimates it resulted in a whopping 80,000 to 1,15,000 premature deaths and more than 20 million asthma cases from exposure to a total PM10 (particulate matter) pollution.

Beijing on Friday introduced stricter vehicle emissions regulations, which the environmental authority expects will reduce auto pollution by 40 percent.

Carbon monoxide poisoning killed 11 people, after an air compressor caught fire in a coal mine in North China's Hebei province, local authorities said Friday.

Carbon monoxide has been blamed for four deaths of workers in a cement plant in northwest China's Gansu Province on Wednesday, local officials said.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has served fresh notice to 23 industries, who failed to install a device for online monitoring of pollution. They have been asked to install the device by the end of February.

Earlier, the OSPCB had given November 30 deadline to install the device to 29 big industries, out of which only six industries complied. The board had introduced the online monitoring system in September to keep track of hazardous emission by high polluting industries in the state.

Ten people have died in two suspected carbon monoxide poisoning cases within the space of a couple of days in Beijing.

Residents of the Indian capital, who thought they had conquered air pollution a decade ago, are once again choking on exhaust fumes and dust and New Delhi has regained its status as one of the worl

Around 25 percent people in Sylhet district have been suffering from acute Respiratory Tract Infection (RTI) due to air pollution caused by the black smoke-emitting unfit vehicles.

Corporation has opted for burning of garbage on streets

Sanitation workers with bamboo-brooms and kerosene cans roaming around the city and burning garbage heaps at street corners is a regular scene at nights in Thrissur these days. As garbage removal to Lalur, where the city corporation’s garbage disposal site is located, has been blocked for more than a year due to local people’s opposition, the corporation has opted for the burning of garbage on streets, as an easy solution.
