The matter related to delay in payment of compensation to agriculturalists, awarded by the Karnataka High Court for the acquisition of their lands under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 for Malprabha Reservoir Project. The applicants are the project affected persons of Gunjawani Irrigation Project. In Original Application No. 43/2016 certain directions were issued for rehabilitation and it is alleged that the state of Maharashtra having responsibility for rehabilitation failed to fulfil the pre-condition of the environmental clearance and after gap of more than four years the conditions has not been complied with.
