India’s Eastern Ghat is one of the key biodiversity areas that is facing high anthropogenic disturbance from different sites. Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary in Orissa is considered as the gateway to Eastern Ghat and one of the major conservation areas of this region.
Phytosociological study of the tree community was carried out in tropical dry deciduous forest of Gandhamardan hill ranges belonging to Eastern Ghats at Harishankar of Bolangir district, Orissa. Twenty five quadrates of 20x20m size were laid in the 100 ha protected forest of Harishankar complex along GPS locations covering its whole geography.

The virgin beauty of Arakku Valley in the Eastern Ghats is a popular tourist draw, but it may soon be just a memory. The hill ranges from Papikonda in East Godavari to Sileru and Krishnadevipeta in Visakhapatnam district, rich in bauxite ore, have been chosen as the site for a mega aluminium project.
This report describes the current and recent past geographical range of the tiger. It provides spatial data on tiger distribution at the tehsil level and its associated landscape characterization; a precursor for land use planning incorporating conservation concerns and priorities.
