The World Trade Report 2010 focuses on trade in natural resources, such as fuels, forestry, mining and fisheries. The Report examines the characteristics of trade in natural resources, the policy choices available to governments and the role of international cooperation, particularly of the WTO, in the proper management of trade in this sector.

The purposes of the Forest Resource Assessment (FRA) Nepal project are to assess forest resources and tree resources outside forest and to provide fresh data on the state, use, management and trends of these resources. The assessment covers a large range of biophysical areas and provides a broad and holistic view of land use for the country as a whole.

New Delhi: Pushing hard its development agenda to tackle the Naxal menace, the UPA government is working out a package of around Rs 3,400 crore to upgrade the infrastructure in 34 districts worst affected by the Naxal violence.

To supplement developmental activities in Naxal-hit areas, the Central government is all set to invoke the provision of the Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act, 1996. This will enable it to directly intervene in tribal regions (Schedule V areas) directing states to grant complete rights to tribals over the minor forest produce (MFP) to address their livelihood issues.
