Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Union of India Vs Narayan Chandra Jena & Others dated 08/05/2020 regarding migrants stranded in different parts of the country during the COVID-19 lockdown bound for Orissa. The SC stayed the order passed by the Orissa High Court which directed that the migrants be tested negative of COVID-19 before entering the state.

The High Court order said that “all the migrants who are in queue to come to Odisha should be tested negative of COVID-19 before boarding the conveyance.”

Order of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh (Amravati) in the matter of poisonous gas leakage in a factory known as M/s. LG Polymers India Private Limited situated at R. R. Venkatapuram, Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh dated 07/05/2020.

Allegation in this letter, which has been treated as an application, was that construction of mega commercial building on the bank of river Jhelum near busy Abdullah Bridge in Srinagar was taking place in violation of the order of the High Court.

Judgement of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay in the matter of Vanashakti & Others Vs Union of India & Others dated 04/10/2019. Applications were filed for declaring the entire area of Aarey Colony ad measuring 1280 hectare as a ‘Reserved Forest’ or a ‘Protected Forest’ as the case may be, under the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and direct Forest Department Government of Maharashtra to issue a formal notification to that effect under the Indian Forest Act, 1927.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Balotra Textile Hand Processors Association Vs Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board & Other dated 04/09/2019 regarding discharge of industrial effluents from 23 textile industries into the Luni river at Gandhipura, Balotra, District Barmer, Rajasthan.

The issue for consideration is compliance of the judgment by the Supreme Court in M.C. Mehta vs. Union of India & Ors: (2004) directing shifting/closing of industrial activities falling under category ‘F’ of the Master Plan of Delhi, 2001. Aggrieved by the inaction of the authorities on the subject, petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court alleging that unauthorized industrial activities which included handling of plastic and its illegal disposal by way of burning, etc. were continuing. The proceedings were transferred to the Tribunal.
