Jan. 4: Taking a serious view of a decision of the former Congress-led Dharam Singh government in Karnataka permitting mining by private companies on huge tracts of reserved and non-reserved forests where it was to be done exclusively by the public sector undertakings (PSUs), the Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the state and the Centre seeking details of the entire matter.
