This new report by GWEC, IWTMA and WISE examines the current status of wind power development in India, assesses the potential for future growth, and highlights the socio-economic, environmental and energy security benefits.

This Global Wind Energy Outlook 2012 released by Global Energy Council projects that by 2030 India would generate almost 504 TWh per year from wind power and avoid the emission of 304 million tons of CO2 each year.

Renewable energy in India has grown at a fast pace in the past few years, led by Wind, but also having substantial contributions from Biomass, Small Hydro and, more recently, solar energy. Wind energy deployment is now more than a decade old in Tamil Nadu and other states in South India.
