Public Health being a State Subject, all the administrative and personnel matters, including that of recruitment of specialist doctors in public health facilities lie with the respective State Governments. The shortage of health human resource in public health facilities varies from State to State depending upon their policies and context.

The pre-UDAY debt levels of 16 Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY) States which signed the comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Govt. of India as on 30-09-2015 was Rs.3.24 Lakh crores. As per information made available by the States/DISCOMs, the outstanding loans at end of FY 2018-19 stand at Rs.351,291 Crore, out of which Rs.63,355 crore is the amount of loan balance to be converted into grants by the states.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on packaged foods with abnormal salt and fat contents, 03/03/2020. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has informed that Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) study has alleged that the quantity of salt and fat in the samples tested were higher than the threshold limits proposed in the draft Food Safety and Standards (Labelling & Display) Regulations. Out of total 33 samples tested in the said study, 19 samples are of ‘prepared food’ where ‘Front- of-Pack’ Labelling is not applicable.

Union Government in conjunction with the State Government and Union Territories is already taking necessary measures to reduce the shortage of fodder through various Centrally Sponsored Schemes viz., National Livestock Mission with a Sub Mission on Feed and Fodder Development, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, Additional Fodder Development Programme. Under these programmes, financial assistance is provided to the States and Union Territories for various fodder developmental programmes planned by them.
