LUCKNOW: For long-term sustainability, the sugar industry in Uttar Pradesh must consider of diversifying its product line. In a day-long seminar conducted on the sugar sector by the Confederation of Indian Industry, this was the popular opinion voiced by industry members as well as UP's infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, Anoop Mishra.

LUCKNOW: The H1N1 infection is back in the heart of Uttar Pradesh with the death of a 25-year old woman named Jyoti Singh. A native of nearby Barabanki district, Jyoti breathed her last at the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU) on Monday afternoon. Family members revealed that Jyoti fell ill with flu-like symptoms on July 9 and was brought to CSMMU on July 16.

LUCKNOW: Even as widespread rains lashed many parts of the state on Monday, claiming over 20 lives in past 24 hours, the weatherman forecast that rains will continue at least for the next two days. The heavy rains also pose the threat of floods in major rivers.
