This report by the committee led by Director, NIH, Roorkee presents facts about the present state of Unnao’s water bodies / ground water, how much of Unnao’s ground water is affected so far and which particular tanning units are responsible for polluting water bodies in the region.

The ‘River Basin Atlas of India’ is an outcome of joint project ‘Generation of Database and implementation of Web Enabled Water Resources Information System (India-WRIS) in the country’, is a timely publication by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

According to this comprehensive compilation of the large dams in India prepared by Central Water Commission, there are 4818 completed large dams and 375 large dams are under construction.

The Guidelines for Submission, Appraisal and Clearance of Irrigation and Multipurpose Project, 1989 had been prepared by the Project Appraisal Organisation (PAO), Central Water commission (CWC) on the basis of the recommendations of the National Conference of Irrigation and Water Resources Ministers held in July, 1986.

The Water Rate is levied for supply of water from a public or a private system with a view to ensure equitable water distribution, efficiency of the irrigation system and its management. It has been attracting attention of Planners, Policy makers and Researchers in India in view of its important role in regulating the water use within the reach and resources of the users.
