Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Tuesday the state government is preparing a “Master Development Plan-2031” for Faridabad and assured industry all its present problems will be addressed by it.

Hooda, who was addressing industrialists at the 60th AGM of the Faridabad Industries Association, which is celebrating its diamond jubilee this year, at Surjakund near here on Monday, said his government had accomplished several projects in Faridabad during the past eight years and more were in the pipeline.

SHILLONG: Union Minister for Rural Development, Jairam Ramesh, has cleared a new set of PMGSY works in Meghalaya including 75 roads covering a length of 267 km and three bridges at the cost of Rs 231 crore.

The Union Minister, however, said that the State Government would have to fulfill certain conditions before commencing the tender process.

Environmentalists have welcomed the intervention of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in protecting the Sasthamcotta freshwater lake in Kollam district.

Mr. Chandy will chair a high-level meeting in this regard on May 8. Terming it a step in the right direction, eco-activist V.K. Madhusudhanan, who had been taking up the cause for over a decade now, said conservation efforts should be supported by genuine, eco-friendly solutions. The lake was listed as a Ramsar site in 2002. Livelihood activities and biodiversity protection was also important. Serious concerns were raised only when the water level dropped alarmingly.

The state government is taking special precautions to overcome the challenge of paucity of drinking water in commonly draught-affected Bilaspur district this summer and 25 new hand pumps would be set up in each subdivision this summer here in the district.

BHOPAL: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 28 crore for Kamla Park flyover and Rs 27 crore for the completion of the BRTS construction work, including the Habibganj rail over-bridge, a government spokesperson said on Thursday.

In all, Rs 192 crore was sanctioned after a meeting of urban administration and development minister Babulal Gaur and Union urban development minister Kamalnath in New Delhi on Thursday. Kamalnath sanctioned four schemes worth Rs 192 crore for Bhopal's development. Gaur also discussed pending JNNURM projects of Indore and Jabalpur. Kamalnath said the city development projects would also be sanctioned soon, according to the spokesperson.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has estimated the prioritised resource requirement for critical infrastructure needs at Rs 8,098.19 crore for Karnataka during the 12th Plan period. Nabard has adopted the theme "Critical Rural Infrastructure for agriculture and rural development" for 2013-14.

According to Nabard, the critical infrastructure is defined as that infrastructure, which if created, will support increased credit flow under agriculture and benefit a large number of people.

Escalators, connected , footbridges at platforms

The World Bank plans to fund a Rs 110-crore project to prevent trespassing on Mumbai’s rail tracks and thus prevent accidents. The project entails the construction of escalators, elevators and footbridges at suburban railway stations. As many as 31 footbridges, six escalators, five elevators, one subway and a road over bridge will be built.

Two Four-Lane Highways Connecting Karimugal & MC Road Planned

Kochi:With work on the longdelayed SmartCity gathering steam, areas east of Kochi, including Kizhakkambalam, Muvattupuzha, Perumbavoor, Kolenchery and Kothamangalam, among others, will get a huge development push. Three four-lane highways have been proposed by the public works department (PWD) from the project site to ensure smooth access to SmartCity. Two of these have been proposed on the eastern side of the project area.

Asian Development Bank has pulled out of the much-talked Padma bridge project after the government wrote to the World Bank withdrawing its request for funding.

NOIDA: The National Green Tribunal has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to clarify as to why the width of Hindon River has been reduced to just about 50 metres at the place where a pontoon bridge has been opened temporarily. The tribunal passed this direction while hearing a petition alleging the river has changed its course due to construction of a bridge over it near Raj Nagar in Ghaziabad.

Environmental activists in Ghaziabad had alleged that debris was unabatedly dumped into the Hindon for construction of approach roads for the bridge despite a stay imposed by the tribunal in April 2012.
