Two diarrhoea patients died on Sunday night, raising the number of diarrhoeal deaths to six in a week, while 111 more people were admitted to Pabna General Hospital and Pabna Sadar Upazila Health Complex in 24 hours till yesterday afternoon.

A specialised team will start work in Pabna from today to find out the nature and cause of the disease, district health officials said.

Jamshedpur, Sept. 21: The situation in diarrhoea-hit Potka block has deteriorated, as the disease has now spread to more villages.

Cases of diarrhoea were reported from four new villages today, raising the number of affected villages to 19.

Till Friday, it preyed on 80. Within 72 hours, the count has jumped to 400.

Diarrhoea, which reared its head in Potka, East Singhbhum, last week is stalking as many as 15 villages in the block, where at least 100 have been hospitalised.

Unconfirmed reports say six villagers have already died of the disease, but the district administration has denied the claim.
