The Pune bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has accepted the action plan of the district collector on the usage of fly ash bricks.

Fly ash brick industry is necessary for promoting cleaner brick production technology and waste.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Fly Ash Bricks Manufacturing Welfare Society v. State of M.P. & Ors. dated 28/04/2014 regarding utilization of the fly ash in various industries. The Tribunal noted that there is little coordination and hardly any effort made to utilise the fly ash in various industries and more particularly in Government works contracts.

Restrains U.P. govt. from permitting such digging until further orders of tribunal. In a blow to brick-kiln industry and road contractors, the National Green Tribunal has banned digging of earth across the country for making bricks and laying roads without prior environment clearance (EC).

Clay bricks are produced in Rajasthan in small or cottage scale brick kilns and clamps which operate seasonally. The raw materials in the brick kilns include topsoil, coal, paddy husk, fly ash, wood & locally available agro wastes to some extent. Brick manufacturing process generates emissions discharged from the brick kilns.
