Sops for devil’s engines

With generous dispensing of cheap diesel to rich car owners, the  government has finally turned the market around.  Media is abuzz with the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell’s report. It says the diesel consumption growth rate at 6.4 per cent has outstripped that of petrol at 4.5 per cent. Petrol price hikes have made the fuel price gap gape wider and add to diesel’s lure.

Ranchi, March 22: Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has turned its attention on illegal meat and fish sellers, mobile towers and water connections in the state capital as part of its ongoing anti-encroachment drive.

The municipal corporation has asked roadside meat and fish vendors to wind up shop immediately or face the music.

BMC to test water after Borivli residents fall ill

MUMBAI: Following complaints of a spurt in cases of jaundice and flu from a residential pocket along S V Road in Borivli, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) has collected water samples to check for possible contamination.

Residents of the housing societies in the pocket, located opposite the police lock-up, have complained of illnesses due to dirty water supply.
