Government staff of Khandwa district will undertake efforts for eradication of malnutrition. In this connection, the Khandwa collector convened a meeting of all the departmental heads and administered them a pledge that every government employee will adopt a malnourished child with a view to helping his family to raise the child in a better way while ensuring the child's health and nutrition.

A team of experts from the National Malaria Research Institute (NMRI) is conducting extensive research in Narmada Basin for making preventive strategy to safe guard the health of people affected from various dam reservoirs. On the initiative of Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) , NMRI has agreed to prepare an action plan for the health care of project affected families.

Power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will be signing a joint venture agreement with Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company (MPPGCL) on Thursday to set up two 800 MW supercritical thermal power plants in Khandwa.

The BHEL and MPPGCL will set up the joint venture with initial equity equally subscribed by both the partners.

Efforts are on by the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (MPSBB) to conserve rare spotted owls. These rare birds were spotted in the forests of Khandwa and Burhanpur districts, in the survey conducted by the Board through an NGO. The Board is also generating awareness among the forest officials, so that they could provide them with special attention, if they spot them.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday directed the state Government to produce command area Plan for Omkareshwar dam and Indira Sagar dam projects constructed in Khandwa district.
