India is making all-out efforts to mobilise the support of major developing countries, including BRIC (Brazil, Russia and China) members, and of its neighbours such as Pakistan and Bangladesh on the issue of climate change and emission norms, Union Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh has said.

India and China are in talks to monitor the melting of glaciers in the Himalayas, a border region crucial to both countries' water supplies, Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh has said.

New Delhi, July 31 The National Green Tribunal Bill, 2009, which provides for the setting up of a tribunal, with powers of a civil court, for expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

The National Conference of Ministers of Environment and Forests was held on 18th August, 2009 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The aim of the Conference was to enhance cooperation and identify concrete actions in priority areas for protecting the environment and forests.
