India is making all-out efforts to mobilise the support of major developing countries, including BRIC (Brazil, Russia and China) members, and of its neighbours such as Pakistan and Bangladesh on the issue of climate change and emission norms, Union Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh has said.

West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand account for high level of hazardous pollutants emitted by their respective thermal power generating plants.

India and China are in talks to monitor the melting of glaciers in the Himalayas, a border region crucial to both countries' water supplies, Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh has said.
