This technical report investigates the benefits of planned road and rail transport infrastructure projects for society and the economy, as well as the consequences for biodiversity and ecosystem services. To date, impacts of infrastructure development on ecosystem services have not been widely studied on larger scales.

The applicant, Mukesh Kumar Chauhan in his complaint before the NGT said that J K Cement, village Satha, Aligarh and other companies are getting clinker, required by them for manufacture of cement, transported from Harduaganj railway station near village Satha, district Aligarh. During loading and unloading clinker evaporates causing damage to the environment and health hazards to the residents.

Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding death of elephants due to train hits, 08/07/2021

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In re: News item published in The Hindu, dated 29.05.2021 titled “Night, early morning trains cause most elephant deaths” dated 08/07/2021.

The NGT directed the Central Monitoring Committee constituted by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) dealing with the project ‘Elephant’ to look into the issue raised in the media report in coordination with the railway authorities, the Wildlife Institute of India and the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
