Gravity and scaling laws of city to city migration

Models of human migration provide powerful tools to forecast the flow of migrants, measure the impact of a policy, determine the cost of physical and political frictions and more. Here, we analyse the migration of individuals from and to cities in the US, finding that city to city migration follows scaling laws, so that the city size is a significant factor in determining whether, or not, an individual decides to migrate and the city size of both the origin and destination play key roles in the selection of the destination.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Verhaen Khanna & Others Vs Union of India & Others dated 04/07/2018 regarding relocation/ transplantation of 36 trees for redevelopment of Pragati Maidan complex.

NGT directs the Project Proponent and other respondents to submit report with regard to relocation/ transplantation of 36 trees which is mentioned in the earlier report by the Forest Department. The Forest Department shall also make available relevant records enumerating those trees.

Mainstreaming climate smart strategies in the sanitation sector in Asian cities

There is a high correlation between urbanisation and the emission of greenhouse gases. Landfills and sewers in cities generate 15% of methane emissions; this sector offers immense possibilities for the mitigation of methane emissions in Asian megacities. Capturing methane by efficiency improvements in the working of both sewage treatment plants and sanitary landfills has co-benefits in terms of both public health as well as mitigating climate change.

What does the fox say? Monitoring antimicrobial resistance in the environment using wild red foxes as an indicator

The objective of this study was to estimate and compare the occurrence of AMR in wild red foxes in relation to human population densities. Samples from wild red foxes (n = 528) included in the Norwegian monitoring programme on antimicrobial resistance in bacteria from food, feed and animals were included. All samples were divided into three different groups based on population density in the municipality where the foxes were hunted.

Report No. 118 of the Monitoring Committee was placed before the Court and it deals with alleged unauthorised constructions in Khan Market as well as in Sanjay Market. It has also been pointed out that the seals of the premises sealed on 2nd August, 2007 in Sanjay Market have since been tampered with and huge multi storeyed buildings have come up on all the sealed premises.
