The strong interaction of the steel industry and the environment is related to the large volumes of matter that are handled by the Steel Industry. The steel plant is a huge logistical hub, where iron is not the major stream in terms of mass. Water, carbon dioxide (CO2) and steam put together outweighs steel by almost a factor of 10 in the output streams of a typical integrated steel plant.

Having an ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) will help and enhance a firm's economic performance and at the same time will improve its environmental performance. The benefits of ISO-14001 lie in cost savings through energy consumption, raw material input, waste management, environmental impact reversal as well as an improved public image.

River Krishni is highly polluted. The investigation was “to study the effect of pollution in River Krishni on the quality of
groundwater abstracted through shallow and deep hand pumps placed in the close vicinity of River Krishni”. One such
affected Village Chanedna Maal was selected for the study. Water samples were analyzed in terms of physical, chemical and bacteriological water quality parameters.

The sugarcane industry is one of the major water consuming industries. They play a major role in national economical development programmes. India is the second largest producer of sugar in the world.

The general concept behind this dissertation work is municipal solid waste management. Solid wastes and its composites affect the environment in several ways. And the major problems to be considered are the generation of leachate from solid waste dumping sites, which affects the groundwater aquifers.

Physico-chemical and biological monitoring of groundwater samples of various wells situated near Rajaula village, Chitrakoot (Satna) Madhya Pradesh was carried out.

In the present study, analysis of groundwater of BHEL industrial area of Bhopal has been done in winter, summer and monsoon season for one year (2007-08) at different sampling stations selected for this study. Two readings of sample has been observed and analysed to check the water quality index (WQI).
