The overall swine flu situation in Dhaka city improved during the Eid vacation but the number of patients with dengue fever increased, said the Institute of Epidemiology, Diseases Control and Research on Wednesday.

A physical survey to demarcate the river boundary on a seven-kilometre stretch began in Narayanganj on Wednesday.
The Dhaka divisional commissioner, Khandakar Shawkat Hossain, inaugurated the survey to demarcate the boundary of the River Balu at Pashchimgaon of Rupganj in the district.

Narayanganj district administration yesterday launched a survey on the Balu river to demarcate a seven-kilometre stretch of its bank in line with a court directive to draw the actual limits of four rivers around Dhaka.

Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain inaugurated the survey putting a boundary pillar on the riverbank in Pashchimgaon in Kayedpara under Rupganj upazila.
