The National Green Tribunal (NGT), October 20, 2023 dismissed the appeal filed against the environmental clearance (EC) dated March 9, 2020 granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in favour of M/s. Oil India Ltd. (OIL) for the proposed Onshore Oil and Gas Development Drilling and Production in Mechaki area. The area would cover Mechaki, Mechaki Extension, Baghjan and Tinsukia Extension PMLs (Petroleum mining lease) in district Tinsukia, Assam by OIL.
