The infant mortality rate (IMR) in the state has fallen for the second consecutive year, as per the recently released Sample Registration Survey (SRS), 2012.

The survey conducted by the Registrar General of India recorded that the IMR has fallen by three points from 52 to 49 per 1000 births.
