Among nuts, peanut is considered as superfood and has been effective in treating malnutrition across the globe. Peanuts have more protein and 30 essential vitamins and minerals that are effective to combat acute malnutrition. Nutritive value of peanuts reveals that nearly half of the mass of the kernel is made of lipids, whereas protein and carbohydrate constitute nearly one-fifth to one-fourth of the kernel mass.

Groundnut farmers in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions now have the opportunity to select from three newly improved varieties to boost production and improve income.

The impact of projected climate change on groundnut (cv. Robut 33-1 and GG-2) yield have been studied for Anand station of middle Gujarat Agro-climatic region using PRECIS output of AR 2 Rscenario and base line data. Yield simulation study was performed by PNUTGRO (DSSAT v4.5) model. The field experiment data on groundnut cv. Robut 33-1 and GG-2 during the years 2008 to 2011 have been used to calibrate and validate the model. The weather condition as projected by AR 2R scenario (2070-2100) showed that there will be 13.7% higher rainfall as compared to base line (1961-90).

Soil series representing different physiographic units were studied to know the impact of temporal change in land use and cropping system on some soil properties in the northwestern parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. The dynamics in land use and cropping system for the period 1983–84, 1996–97 and 2007–2008 and change in soil properties for the period 1983 and 2008 were studied. In Singhpur soil series developed on Shiwalik hills, the soil organic carbon (SOC) content decreased from 0.69% in 1983 to 0.40% in 2008 on account of increased deforestation and soil erosion.

Insurance coverage rates were higher among farmers cultivating groundnut, soyabean and cotton in the agricultural year July 2012 to June 2013

Chhattisgarh government had decided to implement the national agriculture insurance policy and cover seven crops for the current Kharif season.

Water application systems under wells extracting groundwater are one of the major factors influencing climate change in the agricultural sector. In the context of growing demand for adaption of pressurized irrigation with electric pumps in South Central India, the present study was undertaken to assess the carbon dioxide emission (CO2 e) for different irrigation systems.

Andhra Pradesh is the key producer of groundnut and pigeon pea within India. Owing to its diversity in agro ecological situations, location specific requirements and land use, the crop water balance varies, affecting the crop production in rainfed districts.

The reasons for the disproportionate contribution of peanuts to prevalent and severe cases of food allergy in the Western world are unclear. Emerging statistics from East Asia generally match the overall common food allergies in the West, with the striking exception of peanuts, which are consumed equivalently in both regions. Differences in peanut preparation, roasted and dry roasted (DR) in the West versus raw, boiled, or fried in the East, have been proposed to contribute to this trend, and are supported by serological studies.
