The constraints on climate change adaptation in a city with a large development deficit: the case of Dar es Salaam

The city of Dar es Salaam, with a population of more than four million, has no climate change adaptation plan. It also has a very large development deficit and lacks adequate provision for infrastructure and services such as piped water, sewers, drains and solid waste collection. Addressing this deficit (and building the institutional and financial capacity to do so) is also important for building resilience to climate change impacts.

Land acquisition bill to be notified in two months

The new land acquisition law, replacing a 119-year-old legislation, will be notified in the next two months, rural development minister Jairam Ramesh said on Sunday.

The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2013, passed by Parliament during the Monsoon Session, received the President's assent on Friday.

Second Set of Draft Norms for Companies Act Released
