Question raised in Lok Sabha on Level of Air Pollution, 20/07/2018. The ambient air quality is being monitored at 703 ambient air quality monitoring stations covering 307 cities/towns in 29 States and 6 Union Territories
under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP). Under NAMP, three air pollutants viz., Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Particulate Matter (PM10) are being monitored at all the locations. Ambient air quality data for 46 million plus cities including Delhi is attached at Annexure-I

Under the European Union’s (EU) Air Quality Directive, Member States have to implement and report on the measures they put in place in areas where air quality limit and target values are exceeded. This briefing provides an overview of the different types of abatement measures reported.

Shakti in partnership with WRI India has convened a high-level platform for CEOs and business leaders with the goal of fostering Industry leadership on air quality issues. The platform acts as a forum to deliberate on the role of Indian Industry in supporting ambient air quality improvements, technology advancements, financing and innovation.

The bottom-up traffic emission model EMISENS is used to calculate hourly black carbon (BC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission rates on an average workday in Maribor (Slovenia), using emission factors that were previously determined with the on-road chasing measurements in Slovenia. From modeled NOx emission rates and in-situ NOx measurements we empirically determined the hourly dispersion of traffic emissions and applied it to model BC concentrations using BC emission rates.

Replacing high volumes of cars with high volumes of cyclists and pedestrians makes roads safer and the air cleaner, finds a Greenpeace Germany report ranking 13 European cities on sustainable transport, mobility and air quality. Safe roads and clean air go hand-in-hand.

More than 80% of people living in urban areas that monitor air pollution are exposed to air quality levels that exceed the World Health Organization (WHO) limits. While all regions of the world are affected, populations in low-income cities are the most impacted.

GURUGRAM: The air quality in the city deteriorated as the PM2.5 level increased three times on Thursday as compared to Wednesday.

Track the pollution level in your city

Project will be on display at IIT-Delhi’s Open House

Nearly 60% of U.S. children live in counties with PM2.5 concentrations above air quality standards. Understanding the relationship between ambient air pollution exposure and health outcomes informs actions to reduce exposure and disease risk.

Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) is a measure of solar spectral extinction. Long term AOT data analysis gives a picture of air quality for that location. This type of analysis is useful in the study of impact of urbanization on local climate. Aerosols are one of the most important but poorly understood factors that influence global climate change (IPCC, 2001). This calls for a need to regularly monitor the global aerosol distributions and study how they are changing over time.
