Horticulture Statistics at a Glance, 2017 is an important publications of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. The publication contains detailed coverage of area, production and yield estimates of horticulture crops. It also presents information about prices, market arrivals, value of output, inputs used, imports and exports.

The Key Indicators presents the latest statistics on a comprehensive set of economic, financial, social, environmental, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators for the 48 regional members of the Asian Development Bank. It is designed to serve as a resource for information on development issues across the region for a wide audience, including policy makers, development practitioners, government officials, researchers, students, and the general public.

India has a very long tradition of collection of socio-economic statistics through the Population Census, National Sample Surveys and as a by-product of Administrative Statistics. Socio-Economic statistics play an integral role in achieving sustainable development objectives. The need for improvements in the field of data and statistics to monitor progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the associated need for statistical capacity building in developing countries have been highly recognized.

The Indian Petroleum & Natural Gas Statistics presents updated comprehensive statistics on various aspects of Indian Petroleum & Natural Gas sector. The data on international developments in respect of the key parameters of Petroleum and Natural Gas sector have also been captured in the publication. The Statistics presented in the current publication cover the exploration, production, refining, marketing activities, etc. of Oil and Gas sector.

There were 4,80,652 road accidents in 2016, claiming 1,50,785 precious lives and leaving another 4,94,624 persons injured. In 2-16, accident severity measured by number of persons killed per 100 accidents has reached 31.4 and 46.3 percent of accident deaths were in the age bracket of 18-35 years.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Implementation of PMFBY, 04/08/2017. State-wise details of farmers covered, area covered, premium collected, claims paid and number of farmers benefitted during last one year under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) are annexed.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Insurance of Crops, 04/08/2017. All food crops, oilseeds and pulses and annual commercial/horticultural crops are eligible for coverage under yield based crop insurance schemes and weather based scheme. In addition, perennial horticultural crops are also covered under weather based scheme. It is for the States/Union Territories to notify/select the scheme and crops/areas for purposes of crop insurance. State and Union Territory-wise coverage in terms of area/sum insured is at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Compensation for Farmers for Damaged Crops, 04/08/2017. Government announces every year the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for twenty two (22) major agricultural crops and Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for Sugarcane on the recommendation of the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP), views of State Governments, Central Ministries/Departments and other relevant factors. In addition, MSP for Toria and De-Husked coconut is fixed by the Department on the basis of MSPs of Rapeseed/Mustard and Copra respectively.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Generation of Power from Wastes, 03/08/2017. The details of CFA provided by MNRE and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under SBM during the last there years and the current year, State/UTs wise are given at Annexure-I & II. Presently, five projects of 66.4 MW are operational and generating power from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and running successfully in Solapur, Maharashtra; Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh; and New Delhi, which are able to process about 4516 Tons MSW per day.
