Financing, policy and operating needs of enterprises delivering energy access will be critical to achieve SDG7. This report looks at five key countries – Bangladesh, Myanmar, Kenya, Ethiopia and Nigeria – and provides insights on actions needed to scale up decentralized renewable electricity and clean cooking solutions.

This new report, Understanding the Landscape: Tracking Finance for Electricity and Clean Cooking Access in High-Impact Countries, provides a pathway to refine and improve strategies to accelerate progress in delivering universal energy access.

“Energizing Finance: Scaling and Refining Finance in Countries with Large Energy Access Gaps,” offers key insights and recommendations to support governments and development finance institutions boost finance levels – and use it more effectively.

Despite significant economic growth in Asia in recent decades, millions of people in rural Asia still lack access to electricity. A project has been implemented to develop small hybrid renewable energy systems in these areas. This publication highlights the experiences of these pilot projects in five developing member countries.

Arsenic contamination in shallow groundwater aquifers remains a major barrier to providing access to safe drinking water in Bangladesh. Chronic exposure to arsenic has been shown to cause serious health impacts, including various cancers, skin lesions, neurological damage, heart disease, and hypertension.

This report provides a summary of the Raising Risk Awareness project’s results and learning. In summarising both the project’s activities and stakeholders’ responses, this report may prove useful to scientists, development agencies and civil society-based organisations who wish to build on this foundational work in the future.
