Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Subsidies on petroleum products, 03/07/2019. Prices of petrol and diesel have been made market-determined by the Government with effect from 26.06.2010 and 19.10.2014 respectively.

A fuel price cut by India’s central government from October 2018 to June 2019 resulted in subsidies of INR 26,957 crore (USD 3.9 billion) for gasoline and diesel. This far overshadowed funding for the government’s flagship electric vehicles (EV) subsidy program of INR 10,000 crore (USD 1.4 billion) over three years.

In January 2019, China launched a new action plan to address air pollution by cleaning up diesel-powered on-road vehicles, off-road equipment, and ships. This plan is one part of the larger, three-year National Plan of Blue-Sky Defense, and it places stricter requirements on air pollution-prone areas.
