Industrial Units Suspected To Be Pouring Poisonous Chemicals Into Drains, Rivers

A Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) monitoring team caught three tankers carrying a hazardous chemical — Spent Acid — for illegal disposal near Gujcomasol on Vatva-Narol road. Even after strict directions from GPCB to not dispose more than 3,000MGL of the chemical without treatment, many units in Vatva seem to continue disposing of H acid, vinyl sulfone, NMJ acid, FC acid, MPDSA, D.A.S.A, D.A.S.D.A effluents in volumes of 25,000 to 50,000 MGL into drainage system and rivers without processing. This severely degrades the environmental conditions of the region.
