The report contains major market development trends, policy development in China in the year 2014. It also contains information about wind OEM and developers, as well as provincial/regional breakdown of the wind development.

A variety of hydrokinetic turbines are currently under development for power generation in rivers, tidal straits and ocean currents. Because some of these turbines are large, with rapidly moving rotor blades, the risk of collision with aquatic animals has been brought to attention. The behavior and fate of animals that approach such large hydrokinetic turbines have not yet been monitored at any detail. In this paper, we conduct a synthesis of the current knowledge and understanding of hydrokinetic turbine collision risks.

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has announced the launch of the Offshore Wind Policy and Market Assessment Outlook. This report is a crucial link to facilitating the development of a roadmap for offshore wind power in India.

Government of India through introduction of this Policy, envisions to work in close collaboration with the State Governments towards large scale deployment of wind power in the country so as achieve the target of 60,000 MW (cumulative) by 2022.

Australia's peak public health research agency plans to offer funds for further study of the health impacts of wind farms after a year-long review identified knowledge "gaps".

An array of tree-shaped wind turbines is soon to make their debut in Paris, potentially revolutionizing this sector of renewable energy.

Increasing the cost of fuels, growing concern of global warming and increasing demand of electrical energy, a compact, less polluting and efficient gas turbine power plant with regenerator and a suitable Waste Heat Recovery Steam Generator (WHRSG) presents a very attractive concept. Developments in metallurgical sciences, protective coatings and cooling methods have provided the options to design the components and a higher Turbine Inlet Temperature (TIT) may be achievable in near future.

By 2020 India could have 56 GW of wind power supplying 137 terrawatt hours (TW h) of electricity each year, save 82 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissionseach year according to “Global Wind Energy Outlook for 2014” published by Global Wind Energy Council and Greenpeace International. The sector could also provide employment to over 123,000 people says the report.

The United States has plenty of strong winds offshore, but it has struggled to harness them for energy.

Offshore wind power provides a valuable source of renewable energy that can help reduce carbon emissions. Technological advances are allowing higher capacity turbines to be installed and in deeper water, but there is still much that is unknown about the effects on the environment. Here we describe the lessons learned based on the recent literature and our experience with assessing impacts of offshore wind developments on marine mammals and seabirds, and make recommendations for future monitoring and assessment as interest in offshore wind energy grows around the world.
