Representatives of State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Tuesday called for developing coordination between the public and the private sector to increase agriculture production.

They were participating in a meeting at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, which was also attended by representatives of research institutes, agro-industries and entrepreneurs and progressive farmers.

The green cover in Gurgaon, Mahendergarh, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Palwal would be increased with funds from the State Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).

Presiding over CAMPA’s Steering Committee meeting, Haryana Chief Secretary P.K. Chaudhery said that plantation in these cities would be in addition to the ongoing urban forestry schemes.

The Haryana Government on Monday approved two Rs.120-crore schemes for augmentation of water supply in Hisar and Hassanpur (Palwal) towns under the 13th Finance Commission grants.

The Union Government on Tuesday approved extension of the Delhi Metro from Mundka to Bahadurgarh in Haryana. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of Empowered Group of Ministers headed by Union Defence Minister A. K. Antony here.

Construction on the 11.182- km-long route would commence later this year. It will be completed by March 2016. The route will have seven stations: Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border, Modern Industrial Estate, Bahadurgarh Bus Stand and City Park.
