Hyderabad, Nov. 3: Prohibited pesticides are in rampant use across the state and the stark reality is that the authorities, which are supposed to prevent pesticide use, are themselves recommending it, unaware of the consequences. The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB & RC) has given a list of banned pesticides including chlordane and ethyl parathion.

Sources in the wildlife wing of the state forest department said that due to lack of specific agency at the sea and airports to deal with the smugglers, trafficking in endangered species is going on unabated.
