Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M/S. Southern Petrochemical Industries Corpn. Ltd Vs S. Joel & Others dated 04/02/2019 regarding diversion of 0.055 hectares of forest land in Srivaigundam Village in Thoothukudi Division for construction of an intake well for "drinking water purposes". But allegation came up that TWAD Board has also permitted the use of water for industrial purposes.

Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme

The Centre's flagship irrigation scheme - Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) - has been found to be saddled with delays, deficiencies in planning and even serious lapses such as diversion of funds and financial irregularities were found revealed this performance audit of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the period of 2008 to 2017. The irrigation projects led to an almost threefold jump in the cost of these projects to ₹1.20 lakh crore said the report.
