BHUBANESWAR: To fight under nutrition, the agriculture ministry has lined up several incentives to boost the production of pulses in the State.

Only last year, high inflation triggered a drastic fall in the per capita pulse consumption.

The per capita pulse consumption in the State has fallen to mere 11gm/day now from over 26gm/day in 2000-01.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state government would register complaint with the Consumer Forum against the institutions supplied inferior quality seeds. A field experiment was conducted during 2002-03 and 2003-04 at Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to study the possible options for diversification of existing rice-wheat cropping system.
