BHUBANESWAR: To fight under nutrition, the agriculture ministry has lined up several incentives to boost the production of pulses in the State.

Only last year, high inflation triggered a drastic fall in the per capita pulse consumption.

The per capita pulse consumption in the State has fallen to mere 11gm/day now from over 26gm/day in 2000-01.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state government would register complaint with the Consumer Forum against the institutions supplied inferior quality seeds. Chouhan reached the fields of farmers of Ghinochi Village in Chhattarpur district of Sagar division today and inspected condition of the Urad and Til crops.

A field experiment was conducted during 2002-03 and 2003-04 at Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to study the possible options for diversification of existing rice-wheat cropping system.
