Statistics referred to in the reply to the Unstarred Question No. 159 to be answered on 05.12.2013 in the Lok Sabha regarding " Contamination of Groundwater ".

The publication is being brought out once in every two years and covers a wide range of data on water resources and its related resources in the country. It comprises six chapters & two appendixes. Summary tables and charts have been included within the chapters to facilitate overview and better understanding. Chapter 1 presents introduction while Chapter 2 deals with key indicators of water resources including, inter-alia, water availability, creation of storages and ultimate irrigation potential. Chapter 3 deals with data on utilisation of water resources.

With a view to provide comprehensive statistical information on agriculture as well as other related variables, the "Statistical Information on Nepalese Agriculture, 2012/13" is being prepared and published by the Agri Statistics section, Agri-Business Promotion and Statistics Division, Ministry of Agricultural Development (MOAD). The contents in this edition are Pre estimation of micro (district) level statistics on cereal crops, cash crops, pulses, livestock, poultry, fishery and horticulture.

This Statistical Yearbook (SYB) Publication is the 31st edition. It is a comprehensive and systematic compendium of basic statistical information on the country’s socio-economic conditions. Beginning from 2013 onwards the Statistical Yearbook of Bhutan will have separate chapter on Environmental Statistics.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has been publishing its annual bulletin “Indian Petroleum & Natural Gas Statistics” since 1967 containing comprehensive information on the Oil & Gas Sector. The bulletin provides information in terms of both calendar year and financial year, to address the demands of the diverse users. It also includes a brief write-up on production performance of Petroleum & Natural Gas Sector during 2012-13.

National Census of Agriculture 2011/12, the sixth of its kind in Nepal is one among the large scale statistical operations of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Besides providing information about the structure of the agricultural system of Nepal, it has attempted to capture the production of the major crops for the first time.

The present state of the environment with regard to climate change is reflected in the condition of the atmosphere and hydrological system of the earth. The various initiatives taken by CSO since 1997 have led to collection, compilation and dissemination of Statistics related to Environment and a regular annual publication titled “Compendium of Environment Statistics” is brought out. As discussions on climate change took centre stage, it was decided to put together data sets related to climate change in accordance with the framework developed by CSO.
