Nighttime light data record the artificial light on the Earth’s surface and can be used to estimate the degree of pollution associated with particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 2.5 μm (PM2.5) in the ground-level atmosphere. This study proposes a simple method for monitoring PM2.5 concentrations at night by using nighttime light imagery from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program-Operational Linescan System (DMSP-OLS).

Standing Committee on Petroleum & Natural Gas (2014-15) present this Fifth Report on `National Auto Fuel Policy'. The Policy aims to holistically address the issues of vehicular emissions, vehicular technologies and auto fuel quality in a cost efficient manner, while ensuring the security of fuel supply.

Considering request of the Delhi government, NGT has stayed for two weeks its order  to impound old diesel vehicles plying in the capital city for more than 10 years. The green tribunal also sought suggestions from the state government on providing incentives to those transferring/scrapping old, polluting diesel vehicles and on fixing a cap on the number of vehicles to be registered in the capital.
